Corporate America
Becoming Awake
-
Through the power of the purchase, you are perpetuating systems of injustice, but the corporations say “Trust us.”
And with their fingers crossed behind and profit-maximization on their mind, the workers of the system continue to bleed
Fueled by the modern day food system of greed
No longer is real food in your local grocery store
They are merely edibles, nothing more
These edibles are made for you by the use of modern-day slavery
And yum, do those commodities of coffee, tea, and sugar enable you
And that soy was produced by a boy in the heart of the deforested Amazon
And rainforest deforestation came along with your Bon Bon
You turn on your TV and lies go through the media from the corporations like:
“Good morning processed America, I’m here to take care of ya.
From the cradle to the grave you don’t have to be afraid because we’ve got your coffee grown by an unidentified slave
Next you’ll have your chemically grown fruit that was injected to erect to a size unnatural, but we keep that information from you like it’s casual because there’s no room for social accountability or responsibility in our business model
So go on, drink drink drink from your greenwashed unregulated plastic water bottle
And we, corporate America will keep you going through the day
From the polluted air you breath when you wake to your dinner of factory-farmed steak, to the clothes you wear produced by child slavery, all the way to housing materials obtained from exploitation’s bravery
So that when you go to bed and pull those sheets over your head, you ought to pray to us before you dream
Because our power is all around like being outside and trying to escape the sun beams
Have a great day, people under power
And remember that media, government, and wealth is owned by us every hour.”
